Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi, my name is Lesley, I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago as type 2...so it’s diet change for me so far... sugar free and low carbs.. it’s a minefield out there.. sugar is in almost everything.. so I’ve sorted my cupboards out and reading every label before I buy.. any help will be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Lesley from a fellow T2.

Hi Lesley, welcome to the family 🙂
Sounds like you are on the right track, lowering the carbs is just as important as the sugar, when you are reading your labels it’s the total carb count you need to watch. It is hard at first but doesn’t take long to get your head around. Do you test your blood glucose readings? Type 2’s don’t tend to get given a kit so most of us buy our own, code free is the cheapest at around £15 with replacement strips around £8 for 50, testing before you eat and again 2 hours later is a great way to see what foods work best for you, if you track your readings in a food diary it’s easier to see where you might need to tweak and try again, ideally you are looking for a rise of no more than 2.
You will find loads of information here so do take some time to read as much as you can and then ask any questions you might have :D

Hi and welcome to the forum, feel free to ask any question that comes to mind, someone is sure to have an answer. 🙂

Hi @everydayupsanddowns , nothing to do with this post but I was newly diagnosed around 1.5 years ago , and your comments helped so much , ..
Thanks

Yes he is a very useful person. 🙂
Far from being the only one here on this forum, but he is definitely part of the fixtures and fittings it seems. 😉
