Type 1
Hi all, I may be a newbie on here, but T1 for 55 years, I've been using the Libre for 4 years, oh my, an oldie with new tech, I love it! It got my HbA1c down from 59 to 46. I do MDI on Novarapid and Lantus 🙂

Hi Type 1 have been 6 years now late onset. Just started lantus prior to going on pump

Welcome to the forum 🙂

Hi and welcome from me too.

Wow! 55years! Congratulations! And still on MDI.
Good to hear you are finding Libre so beneficial. I love it too despite being a tech dinosaur.

What brings you to the forum at this late stage in your diabetes journey? Are you having any particular issues or just wanting to compare notes with others in a similar situation? Feel free to ask any question, read lots or share your clearly vast experience with those of us who are relative newcomers. I hope you will enjoy being part of the fantastic community here.

Hello and welcome @kayelle glad you’ve joined us 🙂

Great to hear how much tech is helping you. Congratulations on 55 years of Type 1, I hope the years have been kind to you.

Hiya @kayelle ! - always glad I didn't get diagnosed when I was a little one, myself, cos back then even as adults we were still boiling up our pee in test tubes and using syringes we also had to boil up - and all this modern stuff simply hadn't been invented yet. I've been able to embrace some of it, so started pumping quite a while ago now and tried a Libre when they first released them in limited numbers to diabetes clinics but the results weren't viewable to the users - went remotely to a reader you kept about your person and had to go back to the clinic for them to download the results a fortnight later. Learned not a lot then - but so much more useful now!

Things have certainly changed. It must have been so hard for my parents coping with 4 year old diagnosed with diabetes, but they did and I'm still here, onwards and upwards!

Good afternoon @kayelle

Good to have your wealth of experience on here, and good to hear that you have access to the Libre. It can have such a positive impact and show just what is happening in between those fingerpricks. I was amazed at what I learnt from the data.

I look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome to the forum @kayelle

I’m a mere newcomer with only 30-odd years on the clock. But I completely agree with you about the gadgets. Such a huge help with T1 🙂

Look forward to hearing more of your experiences!
