Hiya, I have been type 1 diabetic for 26 years, am having trouble with BG readings/insulin, thought I'd join for support and to talk to other people who know how you feel.

Hi M Birse/All
First time on site also, I am type 1 for past 6 years, also trying to get BG levels down. Good to speak to other diabetics.
I am on Novarapid 30 units/ Lantus at night 11 units. I do carbo counting also what a difference! Had my Lantus increased which has made a difference HBAC1 down from 11 to 9, still too high! Over past 5 years never had such high BG count, know I need to lose weight (at least 1 stone) which is the problem and not exercising although quite active.
You must be more expert 26 years! Any tips?
At the moment always thinking about food and hungry, anyone else have the same problem? Is it the type of insulin?
A very warm welcome to you! You'll find this forum really informative and friendly. It's made a difference to me, and I've been a diabetic for forty years!! Never to old to learn new tricks!
catwoman- is that 30 units novorapid a total for the day or 30 at each meal? which ever it is your basal/bolus insulins are not very balanced, do you know why this is? you eat alot of carbs for example?

Hello,
I'm on 30 units approx.novorapid total for the day, multiple injections.
Breakfast 6
Lunch 6
Tea 12-18
I do alot of carbohydrates, bread/rolls.
Night - Lantus 11
Thanks for reply I've put in my amounts of basal/bolus 4.02.09.
I wondered should my levels be more balanced, you said they aren't.
I didn't know is there a balance between your basal/bolus amounts. I remember once doctor saying lantus should be up to 50% of your daily amounts? My Lantus at the time was very low. The DN at carb course did say I am sensitive to Insulin.
