Welcome to the forum @Hxx

You aren’t alone. Diabetes is the thing that brought many of us into these online communities for the first time.

But it can be particularly helpful with a long term condition like diabetes to have others alongside who ‘get it’, who are facing the same day-to-day challenges and struggles, and who have years of lived experience that you can tap into.

Were you told the result of your HbA1c that gave you your diagnosis? Did it come out of the blue as part of a regular checkup? Or had you been feeling a little off-colour for some time?

my levels have been borderline since I was 17yrs but always pretty stable resent regular check up showed it had tipped the balance my HbA1c was 58. so probably no surprise it would happen some day but a stock its now.

That is at a level where some lifestyle changes should be able to get it down if you take it seriously. Hopefully you will be given that opportunity before being put on medication as that also needs dietary changes as it it not a magic bullet.
Have a look at this link for a good straightforward explanation, some do's and dont's as well as recipes and menu plans to give you some ideas for making changes.https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
Many find a low carb approach successful at both reducing blood glucose and losing weight if needed. Low carb is suggested as no more than 130g carbs not just sugar per day, it is not NO carbs. But better choices of your carbs and portion control are important.
