Hello,
I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself and give a bit of background info. I'm a suspected type 2 diabectic but am waiting for my GP to confirm this.
Last Saturday me and my boyfriend went and had a fasting glucose test done at Tesco. While he had a reading of 5.8 mine was 10.7 The Tesco man said that this was probable type 2 diabetes and that I should see my GP. Unfortuantely, due to busy doctors and an upcoming holiday I can't get appointment until Mid October!
Although it's not 100% I'm going with the assumption I am diabetic so I can start doing something about it! Rather that than sit around for 3 weeks and risk anything getting worse! So trying to be pro active I've increased my exercise and cut out my nemisis- chocolate in order to try and lose a bit of weight. I've never been huge but I've always been 'big boned' shall we say and need to lose 2 stone to be within my ideal BMI.
While I wait to see the doctor I've hired out a few library books and been researching a bit on the net to try and get my head around it all. That's how I found this wonderful site! Also Boots have a blood glucose monitor on sale for ?5 so I've bought that and tested for the last 2 mornings - 8.7 and then 6.9. I'm keeping track of them and keeping a food diary to show the doctor.
I know I might be jumping the gun by doing all this as I haven't even been diagniosed yet but it's been the wake up call I needed and I want to improve my health. I just wish I didn't have to wait to see the doc so I could know for sure 🙄
Anyhow, sorry for the rambling on!
Waves hello at everyone 🙂
