Hello um never done this before
Me and my husband have sex but does it make my blood sugar go up
I’m afraid to have sex with him because I don’t know weather it makes my blood sugar up
Thanks
Kelly Williams

Do you test your sugar levels at home.
If so you could test before and after to find out.
We are all different.

Yes I do but at some point I want a family and I’m to afraid to have sex is that normal

It is unlikely to have a big impact on your sugar levels, so just see what happens.

Welcome to the forum @Kelly25

Any *ahem* physical activity is more likely to make your BG fall rather than rise - depending on how strenuous the activity is, and how long it lasts 😉

But stress and anxiety - and excitement, can cause BG to rise.

If you want to know for sure, the best bet is to monitor your levels before and after any activity, whether that’s simply a brisk walk, or something more enjoyable. :D

One of the cheapest options if you need to self fund a BG meter is the SD Gluco Navii which has test strips at around £8 for 50.

Hi Kelly and welcome to the forum

Good for you coming here to the forum and asking what was possibly a bit of an awkward question.

As Mike has said, increased activity is usually good for lowering your Blood Glucose, so having sex should have a positive effect on your levels, but I would certainly recommend getting a BG meter and testing before and after sex if it gives you more confidence.....

...... and more importantly using it to test before and 2 hours after meals, because it is the carbohydrates in food which cause our Blood Glucose levels to rise most.
If you want to look at it another way, food will almost certainly cause your BG levels to rise..... but hopefully you are not avoiding food. Life is still for living despite having diabetes. Using a BG meter to test before and after meals will enable you to see what effect particular foods have on your levels and tailor your diet to minimise any increase in BG. This usually leads us to following a low carb way of eating. Many people here on the forum have lost weight and pushed their diabetes into remission by doing this.

Good luck with your diabetes journey and feel free to ask anything else about it that might be worrying you.

I was struck by the strangeness of this question.
You do know that diabetes is an inability to deal with carbohydrate in the diet?
Why on earth would having sex have anything to do with it?
Mind you - I read that people think that mobile phone masts are spreading the C 19 virus, so they are trying to burn them down.

Not sure why its a strange question (as said by previous poster)
Sex actually makes my bg fall. Any physical activity/exercise or sexacise as i like to call it makes my bloods fall.
Kelly im not sure if your type 1 or 2 but as said your best bet is to test before and after and find out how it affects you and do this a few times to establish how the difference in the sex type has on you as for me a quickie doesn't effect me quite as much as a lovemaking session does, but for me thats normal as the longer i do any form of physical activity the more my bg falls.
