Hi Hayley, welcome to the forum.

So sorry to hear about your health conditions. It might be useful to start a thread in the general section of the forum as your question is quite specific and I hope there will be some advice available.

We've got a really good food section with a long thread of recipes and 'what I ate today' type posts so do check them out https://forum.diabetes.org.uk/boards/forums/food-carb-queries-recipes.4/.

Hi Hayley and welcome from me too.

So sorry to read that you are suffering serious complication as a result of your diabetes. I can't help with your specific questions but it would be useful to know what medications and insulin(s) you currently use and if you pump or MDI and if you use Freestyle Libre etc. as that will give people an idea of what to suggest that you are not already using.

How well managed is your diabetes at the moment. I imagine the gastroparesis must make that pretty difficult. Hopefully you have Libre or similar to help you a bit with timing your insulin more effectively or perhaps a pump with closed loop CGM might be something which could help if you don't have it. You can learn a lot about the available technology here on the forum which can then lead to helpful and informed discussions with your consultant.

It must be really scary needing a transplant. We had someone join the forum last year who had had a kidney and pancreas transplant and had been insulin free for a significant number of years with no real complications, which was a real inspirational story, so always remember that there is hope that things can get significantly better.

If you have any questions just ask away. The experience and knowledge on the forum here is extensive and I know we have members with Neuropathy and one or two with Gastroparesis, so hopefully they will be able to offer you the benefit of their experience.

Hi im on Fiasp insulin thru the t slim x 2 pump I use the dexcom g6 for monitoring my glucose levels I also take pregabalin 100 mg 2x a day, 20mg of amastripaline, omepazole 2x a day, folic acid, calcium 3x a day metocloprimide 3x a day doluxatine, amlodopine and a statine that I can't remember the name of sorry if any are spelt wrong I have trouble with spelling

Great that you have the t-slim with Dexcom. @everydayupsanddowns is on that system. I believe it is very good.
Hopefully others will be able to comment on your medication. It is quite a concoction but I am sure some members will have experience of some of them if not that specific combination.

Welcome to the forum @Haylz90

Sorry to hear about the challenges that diabetes has thrown your way :(

Glad you have access to the tSlim and Dexcom. I think they have been the most effective tech in helping me juggle my BG levels so far.

Sorry to hear about your hospital visits. Are those related to high BG / DKA or severe hypos?

One of the things that I quite like about the tSlim set up is that the hybrid closed loop adjustments are based on the profile that you have running, which means that if I notice that the automated actions are acting too much, or not enough, I can make some tweaks to my basal profile or ratios/correction factors and fine tune the adjustments.

Are you on Control IQ or Basal IQ? How do you find Fiasp with the algorithms? I would imagine the timings of the algorithms weren’t developed with Fiasp’s speed of action in mind? Some people using Fiasp seem to need to change sets rather more frequently, more like 2 days than 3.

Interested to hear how you are finding it 🙂
