Newbie not on bolus yet

Have you been referred to a specialist Diabetes Centre? They are usually based at a hospital - you need to see a Diabetes Specialist Nurse (DSN) really IMO, not just a nurse based at your GP (who may just have an interest in Diabetes, like the one at my GP surgery) - they are able to prescribe, just like doctors, as they have substantial training and expertise in Diabetes, and will undoubtedly know more about Diabetes than even your GP
Thanks Matt, I didn't know that existed. I will ask the nurse at my GP surgery at my appointment for a referral

@katesypoop i would echo what @mashedupmatt has said about getting a referral from your GP to a hospital DSN. They are definitely experts, more so than a GP nurse, and they will be able to help you with basal - bolus regardless of whether you end up being classified as T1 or T2. It sounds like you need insulin regardless of type if the glicazide isn’t helping, but a hospital DSN would definitely be best placed to advise on this.
