Newbie, mum with a type 1 son with covid

Hi all I just wanted to post about our experience with covid, my son has just turned 16 and was diagnosed 20 months ago. We are just in the middle of his honeymoon ending...which hasn't been easy, and the fact he's grown over a foot since diagnosis isn't easy, mixed with hormones etc. However he tested positive on Saturday for Covid, his only symptoms are loss of smell and taste, and a mild temp. Just wanted to share its not affected his bloods AT ALL and he is feeling completely fine. Hope this can give another parent reassurance as Ive been worried sick!.

Hi I have been on a lot of sites since March, trying to see how diabetes had affected people with Covid and haven't found much info.
I know that everyone is different, but hopefully knowing that my son has been fine can give a little peace of mind.

Sorry to hear about your lad‘s diagnosis, but glad he hasn’t had too nasty a time with Covid. No wonder you were worried sick!
 
That’s good to know. Our team were saying they were finding some of their kids showing ketones even when they’re BG was only 10 or so so it’s good to hear he’s had no issues. I hope he gets the all clear quickly and none of the rest of the family get it.
 
Just relieved it didnt impact his bloods on top of the usual daily struggle! I've worried since March, hope everyone else stays safe and well

Fortunately ketones haven't been an issue, and bloods have been good, considering we are going through the honeymoon ending.
