Hello @BULLDOG64 , welcome to the forum. You must have gone through a rough time having been misdiagnosed as T2 .
Feel free to ask any questions about diabetes you may have, we have some very knowledgeable people on here.

Welcome @BULLDOG64 .
Can you tell us a bit about how they switched you to T2.

The misdiagnosis is a common pattern, and I have seen in the past a flow chart used by some GPS which start with Over 40? And then takes them straight to T2 bits!! Like quite a few others on here I was well over 40 when diagnosed with T1, fortunately by a GP who correctly diagnosed it straight away. I think the BG of 24 and Ketones at ++++ along with a weight loss of 1.5 stone in a week may have been a bit of a clue.

Hi i was T2 now iam T1 due to metformin slow release not giving enough insulin due to the fact that had to cut them down from 4 a day to 2 a day because of have to keep going to the toilet all the time ive been on been on the Humulin kwik pen now for about a week taking a dose of 10 every night after my main meal my blood sugars level seem to be still high coming in at between 19.1 and 16.2 before going to bed but in the morning they read between 10.1 and 8.2 got to go back to my gp in 2 weeks time so will see what she has to say maybe i need to up my dose i dont no......
By the way thanks for the welcome........

Being on insulin, does not turn a Type 2 into a Type 1 !

You are still T2 - it's an inability to use insulin properly, whereas T1 is a total lack of insulin, but can still use it properly once you jab some in.

Metformin has no effect whatsoever on the amount of insulin your body produces - however it assists your body to start using it better.
