Relationship to Diabetes
Carer/Partner
Hi. I am the partner of a recently diagnosed diabetic. I am going to have many questions have already posted one about foods. He is unfortunately very averse to what he is going to need to do. He asks no questions of medical staff so I am in the dark. Hoping this can be a useful place for advice and support for me.

Hi Janice, this is a great forum so do ask questions. If you can get OH to sign up too that would help him if she can face it. Ask anything. x

Welcome to the forum @janice.h

Glad you have found us, and I hope you find it helpful and reassuring to be able to compare notes with some of the experienced members here.

There’s no ‘one size fits all’ approach to diabetes management. It can be a hilariously fickle and occasionally illogical condition, but a few basic strategies can really help you pick your way through the options to find a management system that works for your partner 🙂

To help you get started, members here frequently recommend Maggie Davey’s Letter and Gretchen Becker’s book T2 Diabetes, the first year, which you can work through gradually and will give you a solid starting point.

And keep asking questions too - nothing will be considered too obvious or ‘silly’. 🙂
