Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
I'm the 26 year vet of diabetes lilladyfinner speaks of. Been through pretty much everything short of kidney failure as of right now. I was born with a heart defect and had to have holes in my heart repaired when I was 10 days old, 3 years old and 5 years old. I had osteosarcoma in my left foot when I was 10, and had to have a broviac catheter placed in my heart. Other than that, any major complication from diabetes, i've pretty much been through.

Let me know if I can answer any questions for anyone. I'm sure I will have questions of my own...😉

Hi onyxdragon, welcome to the forum 🙂 Unusual for us to get two members from the US on the same day! But you are very welcome, of course. You certainly sound like you have had a lot to cope with, and still do. What insulin regime are you on?

If we can help in any way, let us know - I am sure your own experience will be of great value to our members 🙂

Welcome to the forums onyxdragon5977 🙂

Hi Onyxdragon. Welcome from me too 🙂

Sounds like you've been there and back again, picking up several T-shirts en-route. 🙂

Hi Onyxdragon and welcome to the forum.

The health care system here and in the US is very different, in particular the blood sugar measurements. Ours will look really low to you.

You do seem to have been through the mill though.

Hello Onyxdragon and welcome to the forums. I've just said hello to your wife. It's lovely to have you both with us and I look forward to reading both your posts and getting to know you both. Take care. XXXXX

Thanks to all. We appreciate the help. My wife has been through a lot with me. 🙂

I'm currently on the One Touch Ping with a daily basal rate of 24.75 per day. I'm a little guy, 5'9" 130, and haven't been able to gain a pound since graduation in 1995. It sucks. 🙂

Hiya - there you go, I never noticed that Animas and One Touch (the co is called Lifescan in the UK) were bedfellows!

I've seen and handled an Animas 2020 I think it was, and they also do the Vibe here (which has matching CGM capability) but we don't get the Ping as far as I know. Anyway I though the one I saw was a really neat thing and smaller than my Roche but a much clearer display as it is coloured.

I was in love with my One Touch meter though and quite hated having to give that up! (rather challenged my sense of security ... LOL)

A belated welcome to the forum from me 🙂
