Hi all, newly diagnosed last week, blood test, 47 last year, now 70, hoping to get into remission, glad I found this forum. Good luck on all your individual journeys..

Can you tell us a little more? Just to help us help you

Welcome to the forum Tracy I'm sure you will find all the information you require for your individual journey, there is a lot of experience on this site

Welcome to the forum @Traceyuk

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, and the rise in your HbA1c :(

Are you aware of things changing in your life over the last year that might explain the change in your HbA1c? Have you been through a period of stress or illness, perhaps needed to take some medication that can impact blood glucose (eg steroids)? Has your diet changed much? Have you unintentionally lost weight?

Did you try to make changes to your diet and levels of activity when you were told you were at risk of developing diabetes?

It‘s quite a steep rise, and I find myself pondering what may be going on behind the scenes with your life, or with the way your body can tolerate carbohydrates.

Don’t feel you have to answer any questions, of course! You can share as much or as little as you like.

Welcome from me also.
Can you think of anything that you have been doing or more importantly not doing that can have increased your HbA1C from on the first rung of the diabetic ladder to well up there, roof level not quite sky high.
Diet would be the first thing to be looking at being the primary reason, if Type 2 for levels to jump.
Have a look at this link for some good explanation and some ideas for modifying your diet https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
It is a low carb approach which is suggested as being no more than 130g total carbs per day, it is not NO carbs. Depending on what if any medication you have been prescribed it should be suitable.
