Hi Maggie66, welcome to the forum.

Being diagnosed with type 2 can be quite a shock so it's good that you're here.

We've got a wealth of info on the site so do have a look around. Our main site has some really helpful factsheets such as this https://www.diabetes.org.uk/type-2-diabetes.

If there's anything we can do to help, feel free to let us know.

Welcome to the forum @Maggie66. 🙂

Happy that you've found us, please feel free to ask any questions if you're unsure of anything. There are no silly questions here!

Hi and welcome from me too.

It's great that you want to support your partner with this as it can be pretty overwhelming at first.
Can you tell us a little bit about how he/she came to be diagnosed and do you know their HbA1c result... the blood test used to diagnose diabetes. It is usually a number of 48 or more if you have a firm diagnosis of diabetes (as oppose to "st risk of diabetes being 42-47) but can be into 3 figures if things have gone quite badly awry. This number gives us an idea of where on the diabetes scale your partner currently is and helps us to give more appropriate advice. It also helps to know what if any medication they are taking as again this can impact any dietary advice we suggest.
