Have seen the DN a few times now, had lots of blood done and the wee test.

I'm on the tablets, just upped to 4 now (2 in the AM / 2PM) also 1 x statin in the evenings. I've also just today been put on Rampiril.

Taking a lot of adjusting. Going to have a good look around the forum and see what I can pick up in terms of hints and tips.

Nice to see some stew recipes lol - I love a good stew.......

Oh, and since being diagnosed, lost over 8lbs - so pretty pleased with that and will continue. The end game is to lose weight (certainly got a bit to lose after getting too comfortable in my early 40's lol) control 'IT' as much as I possibly can and come off all the tablets I can.

Welcome, I am also one month in with loads of weight to lose. Well done on your weight loss. I am on a similar medication regime as you.

thanks both.

I've spent the last two hours (at work on the late shift) reading through the forum and it's really amazing to find plenty of people with exactly the same problems as me !!!!

One question for anyone / everyone reading this, should I get a testing machine to test my own bloods (my dad, a T2 for 20+ years who controls his amazingly well and has all but come off the tablets says YES, but the DN says NO) I don't mind paying for it myself and paying for the strips / needles and I do think being able to test my BS will give me more control as I can see what I can eat and can't eat. (Think I've talked myself into it).

If you want to know what your BG is doing then testing seems a good plan. Someone described no testing as trying to drive to a destination blindfolded. I know that many people with T2 on here choose to test, even though they have to buy their own test strips.

For all of us testing can give us a lot of information about what particular foods do to our BG. Useful as we all seem to react to foods in our own way. Some can tolerate porridge, others can't. I have found out so much more about the different types of foods through testing, and use the information to help me decide on what I will or will not eat.

I am sure others with T2 will be along with their own views on this.
