Hi all, I am a newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetic. Diagnosed at 31 and 8 months into my diabetic journey.
Joined to get some support and advice on all things diabetes.
Becx 🙂

Hi @Becx13T1 and welcome. I was diagnosed in August 23 at the grand old age of 56. It’s all been a bit of a shock but I seem to be getting to grips with things. I hope your care is good quality and you have all the support you need. This forum is a great place to ask any questions or even offer advice. Best wishes.

Hi! It is a shock isn't it. I always assumed it was a 'childhood' condition but it is amazing how many people are diagnosed later in life. Thank you! I hope you are getting on well

Yes sadly a misapprehension among doctors as well, I have a friend who is nearly 80 just diagnosed after 2 years of being told she was Type 2.

I quite agree, I’m only twelve weeks off from being 80 and was only diagnosed last year as a type 2.

Still l keep it under control and if anything I feel so much better controlling everything I eat and getting
much more exercise than I ever did previously.
