Hi and welcome to the forum

It's a little quiet around here at these times but the morning shift will be here very soon. I have no idea about stem cells nor the disorders you mention (I have heard of them)but this is a very knowledgable place fully of friendly people that will be glad to help, advise and indulge in general chit chat if you stick around.

No worries. Thank's for replying though ypauly.

Your welcome.

There will be others, in fact there is a meeting in liverpool next week I don't know how popular the liverpool meetings are but I have been to several others and they are a great source of knowledge and inspiration.

Hi Laura, welcome to the forum 🙂 Very sorry to hear about the problems you are experiencing. I have read several stories from people who have had islet cell transplants, and research is well underway to improve this method so it would certainly be worth speaking to your consultant about it. Perhaps the most well-known person to have received a transplant is Richard Lane, President of Diabetes UK:

There is also a video presentation explaining it here:

What insulin regime are you on currently? Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, or let off steam, or let us know about any good things - you are amongst friends here and we will do our best to help and support you 🙂

Hello and welcome to the forum, they are a great bunch of people on here Take care

Welcome to the forum neuro72 🙂

Hi Laura. Welcome 🙂

Sorry to hear you've got the complications. Did they develop due to less than perfect control, or have you just been unlucky (as does happen I believe) ?

I hope you can gain some knowledge from the forum to improve things a little.🙂

Rob

Hi Laura and a warm welcome to the forum

Hi Laura. Welcome!

As ypauly mentioned, a few of us diabetic sorts are meeting up for a drink on Saturday (14 April) in Liverpool if you want to pop along and say hello - either on your own or my husband and my co-writers wife are coming, so they'll be others there with working pancreases if you want to bring a partner/friend.
