Hey everyone! I've been diagnosed for around 7 years, but recently I've found it taking a bit more of a toll on me, for whatever reason, so I was encouraged by my partner to try this forum, to try and maybe see how other people with diabetes cope / feel about things in general, and everyone seems lovely so far! I'm very into videogames, and weird horror movies. I also watch a lot of the X-Files, so if you're the same send me a chat!

Hello @CaliUberDriver, welcome to the Forum,

I've just started my 5th year with this D malarkey after surrendering my panc'y to cancer. So I'm still thoroughly enjoying life, grateful to be alive and otherwise in reasonable health and I draw on that whenever I start to feel sorry for myself. But I can understand you saying your D takes a bit of a toll on you recently. I've seen a couple of your other posts; how long have you been using the omnipod?

I'm afraid the X-Files, horror movies and video movies are barely in my vocabulary, never mind my go to for variety. But when the X-Files were new to TV they were a must watch then (although I seem to recall getting slightly bored with them by the end of a very successful series.)

Anyway, glad to welcome you. There is a huge breadth of experience and D knowledge within this comnunity so if there is something you'd like help about do ask. But equally you sound as though you have masses you could share with us. Whereabouts and what are you studying and how far into your course are you?

I'm sorry to hear that - I don't hear of very many type 3 cases, I imagine that must be an awful surprise to get alongside everything else. I've been using the Omnipod for around 5 years now, I believe, although, I have in fact got an upgrade to the pump in the pipeline (hopefully).
I'm Second year Computer Science in Cornwall, which is really lovely this time of year.
Thank you, I will absolutely ask if there's anything I need help with! Obviously that goes both ways, but I'm sure you have a little more experience than me, haha.

welcome, hopefully this site will help ease that toll on you.
I think I watched pretty much all of the x-files, I have dark sense of humour (I can find humour no matter how bad things get), I like horror movies (not the unimaginitive hack & slash junk tho). And am a bit of a nerd, my uni course was Business Information Systems. Oh, and into computer games, currently GW on PC, so sure I'm up for a chat 🙂

It is actually Type 3c designated by pancreatic damage. There are also a number of other Type 3 + little letters to designate diabetes with other causes.
There are quite a few Type 3c's here. It is usually treated as Type 1 with additional medications needed because a damaged or missing pancreas means lack of enzymes it normally produces to help digest foods, fats in particular.

Welcome to the forum @CaliUberDriver

The experience of living with diabetes does seem to ebb and flow at times (like the Cornish tides). Sometimes it’s all smashy-crashy and tales over everything - and other times it is more gentle and just breathes in and out almost in the background.

Hope you find it helpful and encouraging to share experiences with others here. 🙂

I like weird horror movies as well. I'm just watching an Italian film called 'Black Magic Rites' (AKA Reincarnation of Isabel and Black Magic rites and secret orgies of the 14th century.) Quite bizarre, very stylish with excellent music.

I guess you are under the diabetic centre at Treliske - so am I. When you say you have been using the Omnipod for 5 years now, that obviously is a pump, what are you going to upgrade to? Is it HCL?

Out of my window Cornwall is not looking so lovely at the moment! It's done nothing but rain seemingly forever!
