Are see you're at risk of diabetes. Was this the result of a routine blood test and if so were you told what your HbA1c was?
If it's advice you're after you've come to the right place so if you have some questions please fire away.

Hi I got tested yesterday for diabetes..had bloods ..around 4 o clock I had a message to say to book in with a diabetic nurse ..
I asked the receptionist for my blood results and she said you can discuss this with diabetic nurse .. I don’t go until next Wednesday that’s the earliest appointment !!
I’m a little confused does this mean that I have diabetes or will it just be borderline …!!?
Any advice
Many thanks

Until you know your HbA1c result it's not possible to answer your question. A result in the range 42-47 means pre-diabetes, 48 and above means diabetes. Shame you're having to wait until Wednesday but when you do see the DN make sure they give you your HbA1c as this will determine where you are, and what happens next.

thank you for your reply much appreciated..
Wednesday can’t come quick enough!!!
Will be asking the DN about that

Many thanks

Have a read of this link as it might give you a good idea of what sort of thing you will have to be doing to make some changes to your lifestyle, the higher your HbA1C is the more radical the changes will need to be. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
What would be useful whilst you wait for your appointment is to keep a food diary of everything you eat and drink with an estimate of the amount of carbohydrate (not just sugar) so you can see where the big hitters are in what you are having.
Many find a low carb approach successful and that is suggested as being no more than 130g per day, it is not NO carb, the diary will show you how far away from that you are.
Having a list of questions to ask at your appointment is a good idea .Hopefully if your HbA1C is not too high you will be given the opportunity to make some dietary changes before being prescribed medication.

Many surgeries prefer to give you your results in person, so that they can be discussed with you.

Unfortunately that does mean you have to wait until there’s an appointment available!

The reassuring thing, I suppose, is that they aren’t treating the situation as urgent, and are happy for you to be seen in a little while - so whatever your results I guess they don’t feel you are in immediate peril. Diabetes, particularly T2, can be a fairly slow-moving foe.

Hope you are able to get some good advice on Wednesday, and are given a clear way forward. Do ask for the actual numbers (and units) of any checks you had done, as this can help you research and understand exactly where you are starting from.
