hi in 10 days I’m meeting with a Medtronic rep and my Diabetic nurse to train us both on how to use a Medtronic insulin pump. I’ve been using the accuchek insight for the past 3 years which is great except I’ve suffered a couple of serious hypos so moving onto a Medtronic because of the alarm. Now I wonder as the 670G has just been released in the uk if the rep will bring one of them or 640g. Either would be good well with the cgm that is. But am I going to be really lucky and be one of the first 670 uk user or just miss out and have to wait 3 years????

Hello @Vanster , welcome to the forum. I know little about pumps , but I know others here who do , I’ll tag @trophywench who may be able to help with any questions you may have.
Good luck with the new pump, I hope it prevents any more serious hypo’s.

Hello Vanster and welcome,

Here's a recent thread from @everydayupsanddowns about the European launch of the 670g. https://forum.diabetes.org.uk/boards/threads/european-launch-of-minimed-670g.75671/

I've used a Medtronic 640g with cgm from its launch and have found Smartguard has worked really well for me in preventing serious hypos. The 670g in addition to insulin suspend enables basal increase to counter hypers. The transmitter for use with sensors and the 670g has been changed to a Guardian 3.

I don't know if the 670g is out there in clinics yet or when your pump was ordered. Which ever pump you do get will provide the SmartGuard element to try and prevent serious hypos . I wish you well with the swap.

I shall be interested to hear of how you get on with your new pump.
I have two years before my next change and there’s are so many things to consider.

Thank you I will update when I get my new pump. I bet it will be 640. Which means on the plus side the sensors are a lot cheaper to self fund. I guess the dream of an artificial pancreas is still just out of step. 8 days to go....

Sorry I’ve just noticed “flower” you’ve got the 340 and cgm and like me your in the south west ( I’m in Devon) are you self funding your sensors or are you lucky enough to be getting them from nhs?
