Hi I was recently diagnosed,last week,with type 2 ,would the pins and needles I suffer in both my arms /hands ,mainly at night, be attribited to my Diabetes ?

Hi roo.2, welcome to the forum 🙂 Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Have you been put on any medication for your diabetes? How did you come to be diagnosed? It's quite possible that your pins and needles are related to your diabetes. Higher than normal blood sugar levels can cause extra sensitivity in your nerve endings, particularly in the hands and feet and often at night. Hopefully, as you bring your levels under better control, now you are diagnosed, this will only be temporary 🙂

I would suggest having a look at our Useful links thread. I would particularly recommend reading Jennifer's Advice and Maggie Davey's letter, and getting a copy of Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker - these should all get you off to a good start in understanding your diabetes and how to manage it well 🙂

At last... somebody else with pins & needles in arms. When I asked about it, nursie didn't seem to think it was connected to D, and didn't consider it worrying. The symptoms have mostly disappeared now, I presume due to losing shedloads of surplus fat.
