Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi, I'm Labs1, I'm 49, Type 2 diabetic. Ive been given a Libre machine by my Diabetes Nurse. Since 2 weeks GP & DN have been arguing who's going to prescribe the sensors. I'm so fed up and bought 1 sensor for £53 on my credit card. I'm a complex Type 2 case & need my sugars to come down to 50 from 100. If it doesn't come down my op will be delayed again! Trouble is I suffer from chronic RA pain & Fibromyalgia & I put off testing as my hands are so painful, hence the libre machine. I now have to have 1 day insulin & another insulin to take 3 times a day. Got a few tough weeks ahead. Not used this forum before. Hopefully the food & carbohydrate meal should be helpful. So I think that's enough about me.

Hi Labs1, sorry I can’t help with your question as although T2 I don’t use insulin. Just wanted to say hello and welcome and others will be along with advice very soon. This is a really friendly forum and you will soon be participating regularly x

Hi and welcome to the forum 🙂

so what are the names of the insulins you are on? I personally use Novorapid for meals and Tresiba as my background
xx

Welcome to the forum Labs1

Sorry to hear about your difficulties, but very pleased that you have managed to get a Libre. For me that was an absolute game changer. There are quite a few T2s who once prescribed insulin have found it easier to manage their levels. As you have the Libre you will have access to a lot more information about the impact of different foods on your Glucose levels. This can then help you to make informed decisions about changes to the specific carbs you eat, and also to the quantities. Different foods effect people in different ways so it is a case of trial and improvement.

Keep in touch and do ask any questions that arise. There is plenty of experience on this forum.
