Hi All,

New to this forum. I’ve been a Type 1 diabetic for 20 years & last 5 years I’ve been on Accu-Chek Combo insulin pump. I will be upgrading to Accu-Chek insight pump in the next few weeks. Be interested to hear what others think of it.

It's different - smaller and less 'clunky'. I find it less idiot proof - not that it ever does anything I haven't asked it to - just that I don't find it easy to find where I have to go on it to change things I want to change - eg changing a carb ratio. other than that (which is probably more down to me being useless with modern technology in the main - and once again the ruddy manual is like War & Peace - there are most likely videos all over the interwebnet LOL) it's fine.

I use the prefilled pump carts with Novorapid and their size is ideal for me - but they are only half the size of the Combo refillable reservoir which could be a prob if you use a fair bit of insulin.

It does take longer than the Combo to go from blood test to calculating and delivering the bolus &/or correction - but that usually only annoys me once a year now, when I see a friend in Cornwall who still has the Combo and we eat together! LOL If you bung 'Insight' into the search box at the top, I daresay you'll find various queries we've had from time to time.

Many thanks for your reply Jenny, much appreciated. Will continue to find out as much information as I can on the forum before I receive insight pump. I know DSN will be providing me a training day fro 9am to 12. May need a few strong cups of coffee ☕️ to stay awake .

Welcome Paul
I am another Combo user, and have just stuck with that for now. I am up for a renewal in a cou0ke of years, so I am always interested to read people’s experiences of different pumps, ready for the next changeover.

It's still the remote control and not having to physically do anything on the pump itself that I like the best so I'd find it hard to swap to any other pump - plus I only realised after having the Combo for a little while exactly how much I always hated filling syringes and trying to get rid of the air bubbles - I'd successfully blanked that from the memory banks after using pens for so long. That was weird, finding that out.

As you have the Combo - are you registered on the Accu-Chek UK website? If so you can find the manual, videos and Lor' knows what else out regarding your registered products - so register an Insight pump even though you haven't got it and get access to everything - though it's often quicker to have a user describe whatever it is. If not already registered, do so because we get the Safety Notices and any other important stuff by email - and have to acknowledge that we've received them and read them - good safety feature for them.
