Hi I am new to this but I have been diabetic since 2017 meds were keeping blood sugars within normal range stopped because I was was having difficulty swallowing all of a sudden now blood sugars really high back on my meds with additional meds but now I have to do blood sugars and I can’t do it as needle phobic and the thought of it makes me cry I feel so unsupported by my family and need someone to talk to about this

Hi @sazzyann73@

Sorry you are not getting the support you need. Family can be sometimes not the best. You will find plenty of support and advice on here. Regarding needles, I'm guessing there must be an alternative.

Does this mean you don't do any sewing because the lancets are substantially smaller than a sewing needle and if you use a finger pricking device then you don't even see the pricky bit.
Better to test that have to put up with the consequences of uncontrolled high blood glucose
Dietary changes can be as powerful as oral meds so you may find this link useful for some ideas of how you can reduce the carbs in you meals. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/

Welcome to the forum @sazzyann73@

Sorry to hear you are finding monitoring your glucose levels difficult because of your needle phobia. Phobias can be so debilitating and difficult to live with :(

What sort of fingerpricking device have you got? One of the most popular on the forum is the Accu Chek Fastclix, which has its lancets encased in a little plastic drum of 6, so you never even have to see them. They are intended for use by a single person, and you can reuse a lancet several times without issue if your hands are clean when you carry out your fingerprick checks (which they should be anyway!). The depth is adjustable, and when set correctly is virtually pain free.

Perhaps upgrading your fingerpricking device would help?
