Now on day 9 of my New Years Resolution - to get my HBA 1C down and get fit.
So far no alcohol. So far no potatoes, bread or rice but a little pasta.
Have walked every day and now up to 70000 steps this year or approximately 28 miles.
Average BG at start after a tin of M and S shortcake Biscuits and a load of alcohol etc 12.9 now down to 7.6.
Ate 6 of those delicious blackcurrent and liquorice sweets in the office and sent my BG into the stratosphere for an hour.
Have lost 4lbs in weight - not difficult after Christmas binge.

Its all going well 4 months + to go to my next blood test.

No need to congratulate me I am smug enough.

Can't wait for my spinach salad for lunch in 7 minutes and 30 seconds time.

Good. luck with your New Year plan @lordburnside

Sounds like it’s working well for you so far 🙂

I didnt realise a year ago that to manage type 2 effectively you have to be a very good boy. Anything remotely sugary sends my BG skyward. Bread and sweets are the very worst.

It seems like some people have a very heightened sensitivity to carbohydrates in general, and for others their metabolisms have a particular penchant for carbs from one source (eg bread), but are a lot more relaxed about others (eg oats or basmati rice). But any of that could be the opposite way round, so there’s really no substitute for a bit of n=1 experimentation, and some trial and error 🙂
