The word is slowly getting out there.

What gets me is, when I was diagnosed back in 94 was under the diabetes clinic at a major London hospital and they knew it was about carbohydrates.

I am pretty sure it is the demonization of fat which has held back the low carb message. Low carb is not sustainable long term without increasing fat intake and Health Care Professionals have shied away from anything which might promote eating more fat or even just contradict the low fat message because they, like us, have been brain washed into believing fat is bad. It is crazy really because no one stopped to think and realise that the highly processed foods and in particular carbohydrates which replaced them may be far worse for us.

Interestingly the NHS dietician that I went to see in April last year after my diagnosis was very dismissive of low carb and keto and yet her stance had changed by the time I went on my DAFNE course where she was one of the educators and she was then aware of the dodgy background to the whole "dietary fat causes cardiovascular disease" which led to the low fat government advice 50+ years ago, which has persisted to this day largely unchallenged. It was obvious from some of the things she said that her perspective was changing on low carb and dietary fat, so hopefully we are at the turning of the tide with official advice on this.

They have known it was about Carbohydrates for the whole of the 20th Century. The very first diet book that I've heard of was written in the 19th Century and was a Low Carb 'Way Of Eating' for weight Loss and treatment of Diabetes !

I'm unsure how influential X-Pert is
I believe it's still provided in some areas as the educational sessions for T2s. (Instead of Desmond)
About 3 years ago, ccg/nhs area next to mine stopped using X-pert in faviour of their own provision. Which was half the length. (I believe this was cost based.) If I recall correctly someone said the new provision was based on X-pert.
