Hello! Diagnosed in December, currently seeking all the information! This site and forum is a great resource! Nice to meet you all 🙂

Hello @Feathers. So good that you have joined the forum, there is plenty of knowledge and experience amongst the members, and I hope you find it helpful.
If there is anything in particular that you would like to know about, then please let us know and we will try to give you some pointers.
I saw your other post about vaccine lists. It can be difficult to get specific information, but the program seems to be proceeding at pace, so hopefully many of us will get notifications soon.

Being diagnosed can be a shock and stressful experience, but please try not too worry about things too much. As you will see if you look around the forum, there are many positive experiences of learning to control and live with Diabetes

Welcome to the forum @Feathers and glad you have delurked 🙂

We’re a friendly bunch, and there are literally centuries of lived diabetes experience on the forum, so ask away with any questions you have. Nothing is too obvious, and there are no ‘silly’ questions 🙂

Are you taking any medication for your diabetes?

And do you use a BG meter to check your own levels?

I'm metformin (2000mg a day). I don't have a meter/test kit at the moment - considering getting the FreeStyleLibre (am a complete needle wimp) But wondering if I should just wait and see what my next Ha1C is.

Sounds like your A1c might have been quite well into diabetes territory at diagnosis? Did you take note of the reading? It can help our T2 members understand where you are starting from - it’s not a measure of how well you are doing, it’s just information to help guide you going forward 🙂

Sure! It was 66 mmol/mol (am in the UK - not sure if different units are used elsewhere?)

Edit to add: I see folks have that sort of info in their signature/footer or whatever you call it. Is that set in the "About" text in the account settings?
Edited again 'cause I figured it out

Glad you worked out how to set your ‘signature’ @Feathers

An HbA1c of 48 is the cut-off point for a diagnosis of diabetes, so your HbA1c is past that, though a fair few members on the forum have started off with an A1c in three figures, so you don’t break any forum records :D

Many members have managed to get their results back down more down towards the non-diabetes range by moderating carbohydrates and/or with the help of supporting medication, increased activity and weight loss.

Good luck with finding your own perfect diabetes toolkit 🙂

Pleased to meet you, @Feathers, and welcome to the forum 🙂
