Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Newly diagnosed in May as Type 2.

Have been denial about symptoms for a few years. Knew I had ridiculous urination frequency, lethargy, and loss of sensation in my feet.

Went to urgent care centre with bad foot infection. Turned out to be deep seated ulceration and level 2 cellulitis in my lower leg.

Been really lucky to only have had small toe amputated, could have been my lower leg!

Was a bit of a body blow to be diagnosed, but with the exceptional support and training by the nurses in Darlington hospital ward 41, I'm good with how I'll manage my future.

Life is going to be different, but not worse. Feel so much better and have a real desire to take my diabetes by the scruff of the neck and give it a good kicking.

On Metformin 2000mg per day, and 14 units of Lantus slow acting insulin once per morning.

Biggest issue I've had was finger pricking, what a state I got myself in. Once I'd done it, can't believe what a small issue it is.

So glad I finally got help to help myself.

So glad I'll be able to support the people who are supporting me.
