Sorry to hear that you've been diagnosed with Diabetes. It must have come as a complete shock especially since you were told to have barreett's esophagus as well. Do you know what your HbA1c is? Did they put you on any medication? What is your diet like at the moment?
Yes put me on 3 sets of tablets one for high blood pressure 1 for cholesterol and one to take with food hba1 not sure iv cut out sugar white bread pasta lots to learn
What are the units for that, in the UK the result is usually in mmol/mol so if that is the case then 160 is very very high. Diagnosis level is 48mmol/mol.
Is the medication metformin as that just helps the body use any insulin it produces more effectively and reduces the output of glucose by the liver but dietary changes are going to be very important.
I suggest with a level that high you get some ketone urine test strips to check as high blood glucose and high ketones puts you at risk of Diabetic ketoacidosis which is a dangerous condition and would need immediate medical aid.
As far as dietary changes then this link may help you with a way forward to making some changes. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
