Hello,
New to this one.
I was told in May i had an Hba1c of 49. That put the wind up me.I'm 61 and weighed in at about 91 kg.I lost about 18 kg down to about 73 kg in
3 Months .The next result was an Hb1ac of 43. Feeling fairly smug here.I purposely stayed at 73 kg and a 36 inch waist, relaxed a bit, but my next result was an hb1ac of 44. Not so smug now! I also have hypothyroidism(about 15 years) and a recent TSH result suggested my TSH level had gone down, for the first time. Does anyone know of a connection here?
Iv'e got a glucose meter, the readings seem to go up after exercise. I'm cycling about 10 miles most days, walking dogs an hourish. Lost another couple of kilos this week.
When are the best times to exercise in relation to your meals and how much, to get glucose readings down?
If I keep to at least the low 40 s will i be out of meds range?

Thanks

43 and 44 would be considered the same a1c so not sure what caused the disappointment with 44?

Medication depends on what you want to do, if you don’t want to start any then you don’t need to, it’s your choice.

Hello @scout I had a defunct thyroid for many years before being diagnosed with type 2, even though I always had problems with carbohydrates. After normal blood glucose for around three years my thyroid revived and my Thyroxine dose was reduced in stages, from 200micrograms down to 125 now.
I find that my BG levels are ruled by what I eat, not exercise or timing - or at least they were during the time I was testing and adjusting to get back to normal.

Welcome to the forum @scout

Congratulations on your terrific weight loss, and good to hear your HbA1c has come down a little.

Hopefully you can maintain that reduction, and perhaps with a slight reduction of your total carbohydrate intake you might be able to see a further modest reduction.

Keep asking away with any questions you have as they arise, and apologies for the forum gremlins yesterday, which now appear to have been fixed.
