Welcome to the forum, I would have thought your GP would have contacted you as you have had an increase in your HbA1C.Hi my name is Rachel and I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes back in July. Its been controlled but diet and was around the 48/49 mmol mark but last 2 hb1ac levels have been 56,and 61 should I be seeing my gp about these levels ?
Hi thanks for your reply .Welcome to the forum @rac50
Sorry to hear your HbA1c has been trending upwards rather than holding steady or reducing
Were you given any medication to help with your BG management? Have you made any changes to your diet and activity levels?
How did your diagnosis come about? Do you have anyone in your close family with diabetes?
Below 42mmol/mol is normal, 42-47mmolmol is at risk or prediabetes and anything over that is a diabetic diagnosis.Hi thanks for your reply .
My diabetes was picked up by my renal consultant as I have bartters syndrome and he was checking bloods .he told my gp but at that point it was 48 mmol .I completely changed my diet and it was stationary at 48 .I was not given any meds as my gp said I was already on a lot of meds so didn't want to add but the last 2 hb1ac levels have been a lot higher .my mum had type 2 diabetes but my dad had type 1 .I know nothing about what is a safe level hence asking do I need to see my gp to discuss if medication is needed .
Hi spoke to my gp he has put me on metformin and referred to diabetic dietician and renal has referred to a doctor who specialises in barters in Cambridge. Thank you for your advice.
