Hello busybee6969, welcome to the forum. Sorry you're struggling, I hope your doctor/specialist find the right medication so that you feel better soon. Have you been given any dietary advice, e.g. reducing the carbohydrates (not just sugar) in your diet? That might help a bit while you're waiting.

Your post will probably be moved to the Newbies section, so look out for more replies there.

Hello Busybee and welcome to the forum. I've moved your thread to the Newbies section so it won't get lost in the general traffic. I'm sorry to hear you're having such a tough time of it.

Many people struggle to find the right medication for them, you're not alone in that. Some get on well with the pills while others do better with injections, it's a matter of keeping after your team till you find what works for you. Is your doctor thinking of starting you on a daily injection, or was that a general query? We have members who are on Byetta and some on Victoza, and they are certainly worth considering if you're not getting on with the pills. I've found Victoza works well for me in conjunction with my insulin.

Many folk here find it helps them if they reduce the number of carbs they eat daily, things like spuds, rice and pasta as well as sugary food and drinks. Perhaps it would be worthwhile looking into that too, if you aren't already. Check out the recipe section for ideas.

Hi busybee, welcome to the forum 🙂 No wonder you feel fed up, it's a shame that you are having to wait so long to discuss alternatives. I presume by the daily injections you mean something like Byetta or Victoza? We have many members who have used both of these with varying success - some very successful, others have found that the side effects are not bearable. However, if one does not work then you may be more suited to the other! When they work, they do appear to help with weight loss and also bring blood sugar levels under better control, so I hope that this is the case for you. The alternative you might consider trying is insulin, of course, which has few side effects if used appropriately and certainly works well to bring levels under control - it can often be a much better and simpler solution for people but is often seen as a 'last resort' for some reason by some healthcare professionals.

Have a browse through the following to read some members' day-to-day experiences with Byetta (exenatide):

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have 🙂
