Hi Hannah, welcome to the forum 🙂 I'd suggest that you take a look at the Children with Diabetes website. There are hundreds of parents of Type 1 children there who are really friendly and helpful and there may be someone who lives in your area who you could meet with your daughter. Also, you might want to get her a free pack and Rufus Bear from JDRF:

She sounds like she is being really brave - you must be very proud of her! She didn't get this because of anything you did, so don't think that, it is no-one's fault, but there is no reason why she shouldn't live a long, full, happy life just like anyone else.

If you have any questions, please ask and we'll try our best to help - you are not alone and we'll be very happy to hear from you! 🙂

thanks

We're always here, so do pop in if you need some company 🙂 Good to hear that hubby was able to handle the hypo - everything is new to you at the moment, but you will quickly learn what you need to know to keep your little one safe and healthy 🙂

There's a great book, Type 1 Diabetes in Children, Adolescents and Young Adults by Ragnar Hanas, that you may find helpful as it covers practically everything you can think of and is very well recommended.

Diabetes UK have a childrens section, and arrange sort of education weekends for families where there are fun things for the kids and the mums and dads to join in, as well as more serious sessions.

Some of the local branches have really good childrens sections too. See
