Hi Josh and welcome from me too.
Have you just recently been diagnosed? It can be a bit mind blowing when you are first told and there is so much information to take in. Feel free to share more info with us if you wish or share any concerns or issues you have. Knowing the blood test result that caused you to be diagnosed (this is referred to as your HbA1c reading) gives us an idea of where you are on the diabetes scale so we have a better indication of how high your Blood Glucose is and perhaps tailor any advice with that in mind. It is also a useful guide for you as it is the starting point in your journey with diabetes from which you can perhaps set your goals.
Reducing the amount of carbohydrates you eat is an important step in lowering your Blood Glucose and that usually means not just sweet stuff but bread, pasta, rice, potatoes etc and fruit and ideally increasing the amount of leafy veg you eat. It sounds a bit daunting, but actually makes you feel better and I find I enjoy food more now that I have kicked my sugar habit.
