New type one teenager

Hey I have type one diabetes and I'm a teenage girl. I've had diabetes for four years and around three months now. However I am still learning a lot and only just found out recently that you can require different insulin ratios at different times of day. This was a pretty brilliant discovery that I gained after changing my DSN. I've had some pretty bad control in the past, some crazy diabetic happenings (like five or six hypos a night without a cause) and I'm recently just coming out of a week long spell of feeling unwell and having high ketones. I take Novorapid and levermeer and I carb count my meals. Just wanted to say hello and hope that I have now found a place to vent a few of my feelings regarding diabetes, pick up some tips and hopefully share some tips I have.

Hello all

My son is nearly 13 and was diagnosed 8 weeks ago. What a learning curve! I've posted a couple of places on this forum in the last couple of days, but just wanted to say hello to the other parents. Another good site is Children with Diabetes....

Many thanks for all the welcomes - it is fab to have another avenue to discuss things that no one else really gets!

Friends are fantastic - but unless you are dealing with this every day it can be difficult to fully grasp.

Wendy
