Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi everyone
I am type 1 diabetic for 48 years .
Currently using omnipod Dash insulin pump and libre/MiaoMiao and xdrip on my android smartphone.
Hoping to move to looping when Libre connects with omnipod using rileylink

thanks to all in advance for saying hello !!!
glad to be here !

Welcome @himtoo 🙂

I think @helli uses the MiaoMiao and xdrip too, as do a few others. I just have a pump, but I’m very happy to have that as it makes things so much easier.

Hi and welcome from me too.... a relative newbie to diabetes with just 2 years under my belt and happy on MDI at the moment. It will be good to have your vast experience added to the forum and hopefully there will be the odd thing you can learn here too. We have a few "loopers" on the forum, so hopefully they will be able to answer any questions you have about that although they are obviously with other pumps... tslim and medtronic I believe.

Hellooo Paul! So pleased to see you here! I'm in awe of your technology and I know how tight you keep your control.

Welcome to the forum @himtoo

Nice to see you over here. 🙂

Hi himtoo it’s nice to see you here, recognise you from DSF

Welcome to the forum @himtoo

I have no experience of home grown looping, but happily using the Medtronic 780G closed loop system and gradually getting it to work for me. Just been listening to a conference
Connect One UK and as someone pointed out, no tech will deal with everything, but the closed loop is a good step in the right direction, and definitely means I have to think about Diabetes less.
It works well especially when I don’t get involved, so produces superb flat lines overnight.

I have progressed from Libre 1 with Miaomiao 2 and xDrip+ to Libre 2 and xDrip+ without the need for a Miaomiao.
It was great to get rid of the Miaomiao and no longer have to worry about charging it.

I have no experience of RileyLink. It sounds interesting.

Hi Paul! Pardon my ignorance - what the heck is Riley Link?

The RileyLink 433 is an Open designed Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to 433MHz module, that can be used to connect BLE capable devices to 433Mhz based devices. this allows the cgm and the pump to talk to one another

That will teach you to ask a question which will result in an answer in a foreign language Jenny!! 😉

Makes sense to me but I knew a RileyLink was a component of DIY closed looping before I looked it up on Google.

No, exactly what I expected Thanks! - I've known Paul somewhat longer than yourself. It told me more than I need to know. :D (And may I add though he speaks English just as well as he speaks gadgetgeek speak, he neither lives in Middle England nor was he born here!)
