Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi, I was initially diagnosed with type 2 almost 4 years ago. I was advised to tackle it with diet and exercise...which I did very successfully. Within a few months my sugar levels dropped dramatically as I was getting a better understanding of food etc. Then 2 years ago I had a blip (as I like to call it) I wasn't well and started to start eating rubbish food again. I have finally got my act together and controlling what I eat again along with extra exercise. I have decided i don't want to take medication so am really working hard at getting my levels down. Joined the group for a bit of support, and to give support to others also.

You will certainly get plenty of support and help from these lovely people on here, having been through experiences themselves they are full of good ideas and advice so any questions you have don't hesitate to ask. The learning zone and menu/ recipe ideas are really useful as are some of the links that you will find. There are many people who have managed to get their blood glucose levels down without medication so it is something that with the right lifestyle changes is achievable in many cases though not all as everybody is different and the body's ability to adapt will vary and there may be other medical factors which play a part.

Hi D4determined, welcome to the forum.

We all have blips so it's lovely to hear that you've been able to get back on track. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Welcome to the forum @D4determined

Good to hear that you spotted your blip, and have been determined to get things back into line again.

Diabetes is a marathon, not a sprint - and it’s important to develop a flexible ‘toolkit’ of management strategies and approaches that will work for you long-term 🙂
