Hi there and welcome to the forum 🙂

What things would you like help with? If you list them then I'm sure we'll be able to help

In regards to asking if things you consume are ok then unfortunately none of us can answer that for you, we are all individuals and tolerate different foods and different amounts of carbs so the only person that can tell if it's ok is you yourself, we find these things out by testing our BG before eating and then again 2 hours after looking for no more than a 2-3mmol rise
xx

hi one thing is veg bad at all and fruit with its own sugars as I love fruit and butternut and parsnip which I've been told to stay away so I have and it has not made a bit a difference to my count I cant seem to get it lower than 7 I was 24 and my HB1AC was 87 but having next text in 2 weeks so avoided all sugars and kept carbs low to 40 ish a meal I just hope I've done enough I am so worried about it

Hi @mandie and welcome to the forum
Do you have a Blood Glucose meter?
If you are serious about reducing your Blood Glucose then just relying on 3-monthly (if that) Hba1C measures is like steering by looking in the rear view mirror.

Decent affordable BG meters (both available online) are:
SD Gluco Navii
Spirit Healthcare Tee2
The test strips (main expense) are around £8 for a pot of 50. Note you will need to test very meal (before & then 2hrs after 1st bite) for a while, so order more than 1 pot.

We all have an individual reaction to carby fruit, veg and grains.
Parsnips and carrots are fibrous underground veg, but they are sweet - so almost as bad as potato.
Berries (straw/black/rasp/blue) are the safest fruit - best with some full fat natural greek style yogurt or double cream.

For more details of carbs in veg and fruit take a look at www.dietdoctor.com - the free portion of their site is good.

If by 7 you mean 7.0 mmol BG reading taken at 2hrs after a meal then you are doing fine!
All you can control is your BG spike response to the food you eat. The background 'fasting level' will be affected by things such as Dawn Phenomenon' which you can't control - so don't concern yourself with it!
People can get into full T2 remission months or even years before their fastuing BG drops down much.

Hi Mandie, welcome to the forum.

It's a challenging diagnosis to accept so you're among friends in the same boat. One of the things that has become really apparent is that different things work for different people though that means there will be lots of conflicting info about.

It sounds as though you've had success with a particular formula so stick with it and make small changes as you go. Checking your BS two hours after you eat can help you to see how foods are impacting you so there's less guess work.

Welcome to the forum @mandie

Sounds like you are working hard and trying to make some positive changes. But you are right, it can be confusing - and different approaches suit different people, so you have to work out what works for you.

It sounds like you are aiming for 40g of carb per meal, and have a BG monitor to check what happens after eating.

If there are foods you are unsure about (eg root veggies, or the berry smoothie) then using the approach of a pair of BG checks before and 2hrs after can be really helpful.

Good luck and let is know how things go. 🙂

I can't have smoothies as they rocket my blood glucose due to the ease of digestion of all the carbs.
