Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi all, i am type two but i use insulin. I'm quite shy but i hope talking to people in the same boat as me will help

Hello @Mand56 welcome to the forum from another T2 on insulin . I hope you will soon feel comfy here.
Feel free to ask any questions about diabetes , we have some very knowledgeable people on here who are happy to help.

What insulin’s are you on.

Hi i'm on lantus insulin pens. I also take metformin and glicazide tablets. I have been a diabetic for 6 years but at the moment it's really playing up. It's really getting me down to be honest

Hi Mand, welcome to the forum 🙂 Everyone is really friendly, so if you have any questions or there is anything we can help you with, please let us know 🙂 What sort of problems are you having?

Before i explain i want to explain i'm disabled and have quite a few health problems. I saw my gp a few weeks ago after having blood tests. Because I've been very drowsy and fall asleep even when i'm out (like while i was waiting to see the gp). I honestly thought it was to do with my iron deficiency but to my surprise i was told it's down to the diabetes. I was asked to start recording my blood sugars again 3 times aday before i eat. It hasn't been any lower than 19 it just keeps going higher it went up to 29.4 today and my husband couldn't wake me. He only managed to wake me after giving me some insulin of which i normally take in the evening. I don't want to sound dramatic but i feel so low

Hi and welcome. That sounds rough. And your BG is high so you will feel terrible. Did the GP give you any advice about safe BG levels and at what point to go to hospital/call an ambulance if necessary?

Hi, i do feel terrible. No my gp just asked me to record my BG levels and to come back in three weeks. I can't see him until the week after next as he is completely booked up. I did call today but he is away, another GP spoke to me but said it was best to see my own gp. I'm at a loss really i feel quite alone

@Mand56 . To be honest with those high levels and what happened today, you need expert help now and I do mean now. Please go to A & E . I know this is probably the last thing you want to do but you need expert help now and they have access to experts in diabetes. Sadly mostly GPs do not have the training to be able to treat those of us who are experiencing such high levels.
So please don’t wait any longer.

GPs no matter how good they are are general practitioners, you now desperately need the experts.

Once you are on the right treatment you will start to feel oh so much better.

Please let us know how you get on.

Welcome Mand56 and so sorry to you are having such problems. I’m not on insulin myself but people are very experienced on this site so I hope you are able to take their advice. Don’t ever feel lonely as there is always someone on here who you can have a ‘chat’ with. Good luck and let us know how you get on x

I’m type 2 but not on insulin. Just wanted to say hello and welcome though. It’s a great place for support and advice here. X

Hi @Mand56 welcome to the forum, I have to agree with @Ljc A & E should be your next port of call like now. If you are unable to get there ring for an ambulance, please keep us informed.

Hi all, thank you all for you advice. I do apologise i'm only just getting back to you all but with my BG and my health problems i haven't been well. I took your advice and went to A & E although i was clearly not looking well and my BG being high i was made to feel unwelcom. I was asked why i didn't go to my GP i felt very uneasy like i shouldn't have gone. They put me on a drip with something to bring down my levels. The next morning they told me that although my BG was still high it had gone down enough to let me go home. I was told to see my GP on Monday. My GP is away until Wednesday so i can't see him until then and BG levels are climbing again. What do you advise?
