You were probably just unlucky and happened to hit slightly larger blood vessels than is usual. Normally that doesn't cause a problem (the blood clots and so the bleeding only lasts a few minutes) but I'm sure it's possible for it to be worse.

Most people find the glue is more than adequate, but skin varies. There are various sticky patches and straps and things custom made to help keep sensors on. You can also just use plasters (I have a few 7x6cm Tegaderm plasters just in case a sensor starts peeling off).

Prepping the skin is important before you apply the Libre, so that any loose skin and grease etc are removed. Was it a nurse who applied it for you or yourself? I normally apply mine on an evening after a shower and before bed, so that it isn't going to be exposed to any challenges until the next morning. You need to make sure the arm is really thoroughly dried before applying. I have an arm strap for mine which is a sort of plastic 3D printed watch face that fits exactly around the circumference of the sensor and is held in place with an adjustable elastic strap. I got mine off ebay but I am sure they are also available on Amazon etc. too.
Occasionally I have one that bleeds a little more than a tiny spot that oozes out through the centre hole but never had one that gushed or anything. You did place it on the back of your arm didn't you? There should be less blood vessels near the surface on the back of the arm.

If you contact the manufacturer, Abbott Laboratories and explain what happened, they should send you a replacement.

Welcome to the forum @liessab

Sorry to hear about the tricky time you had with your first Libre :(

Just unlucky to hit a capillary and cause it to bleed I guess. Mostly insertion goes smoothly. Call up Abbott’s helpline and they will most likely replace the sensor, especially of the adhesive didn’t seem right (there are very few sensors that don’t meet Abbott’s quality control, but it can happen)
