Hi all,

Just a quick hello thread as I am new here.

I was diagnosed 2 years ago at the age of 22 and it came as a bit of a shock to be honest.

Doctors have no idea what triggered it but one day I passed out and went to the Doctors to make sure everything was ok. After 9 months of testing they diagnosed me with an overactive thyroid, Gilberts disease and then finally Type 1 diabetic.

In this period I wasn?t really myself, I was jaundice and lost about 2 stones going down to a low of 9 stone (I am 5ft 11).

Like I say being diagnosed was a shock, a big shock but instantly after injecting insulin my health was getting much better and I have now put on the weight I lost and a bit more. The tiredness has gone and I am living a normal life.

I can?t stress enough to people the relief of being diagnosed, just so I know what is wrong with me. The people around me have been amazing and the nurses, doctors and consultants at Poole and Salisbury hospitals have helped me through a tricky time.

Any way that?s my story, I hope my involvement on the forum can help others.

All the best.

Great to see such a positive response - like you say - it can actually be a great thing to know what is wrong and that it can be dealt with. I look forward to reading your posts.
