Hi, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes around 10/11 years ago. I've had my ups and downs but currently seem to be in a very long slump. My biggest issue is that I don't lose weight very easily and have been struggling with various injuries over the last couple of years that have stopped me exercising. My personality is such that when I get depressed I eat - not being able to exercise, which I love, makes me depressed so my weight has increased considerably over the last 2 years. I am currently on glucophage SR and victoza but my levels aren't under control. I've been trying to put off moving onto insulin, which is the next step apparently, because I'm scared of having to inject constantly and also the potential side effect of having an even harder struggle to lose weight.

Can anyone give advice as to whether insulin is my only option and, if so, some reassurance and advice about using it - I am really, really scared of moving onto it. Thanks.

I hate to come straight out & mention it without being 'invited', however, a lot of people have a lot of luck regarding weight loss & BG control with the LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) Way Of Eating. I don't consider it a diet as I'll probably be doing it for the rest of my life, hence Way Of Eating.
Hang around on this board & you will probably find a few mentions a day regarding LCHF & the experiences people have with it, it takes time & research to work out exactly what it is & how it benefits you

Hi Caroline, to start you out try watching the video by Dr. Stephen Phinney, he lays the basics out quite clearly. The video is rather long but worth the watch....
