Hi Louise - yes, 4.6 is excellent! 🙂 Ideally, you want to be around 4-7 before eating and no more than 8.5 two hours after eating, although it can help to test at other times after eating to find out when the food causes the highest levels. Have a read of Test,Review, Adjust by Alan S for a good guide to how to test efficiently and effictively 🙂

Thank you for your reply, I tested before my dinner and was 5.2 and 2 hours after was 5.7 x

Those readings don't sound diabetic to me Louise. I suppose having had an hba1c of 97 though they would obviously class you as such. My Dad in Law's neighbour lost loads of weight following all the worry with her husband and, following a diagnosis of diabetes, now has normal results. She asked her GP if she was still diabetic. He said although her results were normal, once you have been diagnosed with it you are always classed as diabetic. I know others after a certain amount of time have been told they are not though so think it must depend on GP.

How did you get your levels so low? You have done really well.

5.2 to 5.7 sounds fine to me. I read in Dr David Cavan's book that you should not go up more than 2-3 mmols 2 hours after a meal so 0.5 would be fine.

David Cavan is a Consultant who specialises in diabetes.

Thank you, yeah I will always say I'm diabetic but well controlled, I follow a really low carb diet, no pasta etc the only bread I eat is burgen but I work a physical job at housekeeping just wonder if it's that that is helping me xx lost 4 stone since December also xx

Yep. Probably having a physical job really helps. I think most of it is what you eat though. Your weight loss will have helped you too.

Wow congratulationss are definately in order.
Obviously the changes you have made , plus all the running around you must have to do with your work is working wonders for your control.

You are doing amazingly well. Give yourself a big pat on the back. As others have said once you have the diagnosis it will always be lurking in the background if you don't take control. Well done you! I am seriously impressed 🙂

Thank you everyone means a lot xx
