Hi been diabetic for 2 years, had lots of different meds shortly going on insulin not happy and slightly worried off the effects it will have on my life.

Hi kindle1, welcome to the forum 🙂 What are your worries about insulin? I've been on it since diagnosis so have never really had much of an option, but I can see tat it can be a big change if you have been managing your diabetes without it. I suppose the main change is if you drive as there are much stricter rules for diabetics on insulin. Apart from that it can be a good thing as it should give you better blood sugar control which will have an overall good effect on your health and general well-being. Do you know what insulin you will be using?

Hi not sure which insulin. Bin on victoza but not working for me. Bloods all over the place get lots of boils and abseces, have other medical conditions and my meds sometimes do go well together. Worried about weight gain and frequency I will need to inject.

I would imagine that if the insulin improves your blood sugar control then the problems with boils and abscesses will be much relieved, as poor control encourages bacteria and infections to flourish. You may just need a background insulin which is usually injected just once or sometimes twice a day. You may be put on two injections a day of mixed insulin or, at the most 4 or 5 injections if you are given a slow-acting insulin and a fast acting one to take with each meal. In reality, it's just about a minute or so out of your day and soon becomes routine 🙂

Welcome to the forum kindle1 🙂

Welcome to the forum Kindle.
Has anyone advised you on a suitable diet, besides stuffing you full of meds?

Injecting is a doddle and hopefully you will soon start to feel a lot better once your numbers come down.
