Welcome to the site. Try not to think of sweet things as forbidden but as something to be had as special treats in very small amounts.......eat them slowly and really enjoy them when you do have a treat.

Welcometo the forum; the thing you have to ask yourself when you're about to munch on something sweet is 1) do I really want it or is it because it's there? I cut out all sweet stuff once diagnosed but did have a treat on Christmas day - I've saved a small fortune not buying sweets; cakes; crisps etc.. and feel great after losing 3 stone. Its all about taking small steps; not getting too obsessed about food and taking each day as it comes. If you do give it to something sweet just make an added effort to try harder next time.. it can be done.

Diabetes is something that can be managed and controlled but its up to you to do the hard work; and with help from the fabulous guys on this site I'm sure that within no time you'll be giving others advice. Amanda x 🙂

Hi and a warm welcome to the forum

Welcome to the forum KSsmall115 🙂

Hi KS....., welcome to the forum. Are you recently diagnosed?🙂

Hi KSsmall,

Welcome to the boards and happy New Year to you! I was a complete chocoholic until recently- the number of bars I was eating could easily go into double figures! 😱 Getting diabetes shocked me into action- I now only have a few squares of dark choc occasionally after dinner. If I can do it anyone can 😉

You need to find what your personal motivation is. It's not always easy but everyone here will do their best to help and support you 🙂

Hopefully 2012 can be a fesh new start for you 🙂

Good luck KS........this forum will give you the help and support you need.

Welcome KSsmall - remember that it's not just diet that's important, but exercise also helps regulate blood glucose levels and reduces weight - so, once you've found an activity you enjoy, try to do more eg walking, cycling, dancing, gardening etc - doesn't have to be gym!
