Hi South Coast Lass
Welcome to the forum
🙂
Yup I remember those tricky early days well
🙄
The best advice is to approach it with a combination of short term 'fire fighting' coupled with longer-term careful experimentation.
The first thing you'll need to get really properly tied-down is your (current) basal pattern. There's no guarantee that this won't change in a month or two of course... but mostly once you've got a basic pattern tested and tweaked the adjustments seem to be broadly-speaking 'up a bit' 'down a bit' rather than starting from scratch.
This write-up is very helpful:

Properly adjusted basal (as I'm sure you know) is the bedrock of decent control, and meal doses/corrections never flay fair with me if my basal is out (or has drifted).
It's a pain, but systematic fasting testing really does pay off.
As for post-meal numbers... IMO you need to work out whether the issue is dose, timing, or both.
You may be high at, say, 2hrs. But then back in range by 4-5 hours. (suggesting the dose is fine, but the food is outpacing the insulin). These can be squashed by leaving a small wait (15 mins..? 30 mins..? 45 mins..?) after the bolus before eating.
Or you may just never get back into range (suggesting the dose is too small and the ratio needs looking at).
Good luck with it. Marathon not a sprint etc... etc...
There will be times when you'll wonder what on *earth* you are doing in the first year - but once things start to fall into place and you get strategies in place to deal with those tricky meals/situations your pump will really start to earn its keep
🙂
Have you given it a name yet?
