Hi, well i am type 2 and after 2 years trying everything possible in oral meds and non insulin i jections, all of which had severe side effects, i have finally been put onto insulin.
Why oh why didn't I try this ages ago i don't know. It's the best thing ever. No side effects at all. Great.

welcome that's good news that your happy being put on insulin and free of side effects from the other meds, I have been trying for a couple or so years to be put on insulin, get so close then told no can't have it.

Doc was reluctant to put me on it because bs was only about 12 in morning. But 2 years on every type of oral meds and so many side effects. The only oral now is metformin 1000 SR per day. For 2years this gave me upset tummy but nothing i couldn't withstand. Now it never upsets my tummy. I wish it would sometimes as I lost weight. I have found that injecting 30 MLS brings my bs down to normal levels. When i go back to docs in a couple of weeks, it will be time for fine tuning it.

Welcome to the forum, Christine Holbrook. It's great to hear that you're so happy on insulin and that it's working so well for you.

If you want support or tips to help lose weight, we have a Weight Loss Group section.

By the way, be careful about how you describe insulin doses - all commonly used insulins contain 100 units in 1ml. Doses are expressed in units, not ml. It could be important if you ever have to describe your medical history and current medication to a doctor who doesn't have access to your records eg if you had an accident on holiday.

My Hba1c was 54 which was done last week, my problem is that I can fall from high teens to likes of 6.0 within a couple of hours and was winning the weight battle until they put be back on gliclazide :( . Finally one doc did get me referred to hospital because of my problems and that some meds do not work with me. Had my 2nd hospital appointment and instead of helping further which was looking like they would at my first appointment, instead discharged me back to the docs. My hospital don't treat one if ones HbA1c is not 58 or above it's bye bye and don't help.

Hi and welcome Christine. I was like you but after nearly 17 years on orals my DSN decided to put me on insulin. I have just had my Hba1c last week and it was 36:D I have also lost about 5 kilo in the last 12 months. Hope it soon sorts you out.

Thank you for the encouragement, it certainly bringingg my bs down.I have stopped testing during the day as it seems to go up and down a lot. But at least I'm not having hypos like I was on lyxumia pen.

Hi Welcome. I'm on insulin too 🙂
