Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1.5 LADA
Hi all,

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I'm poplolly and I'm type 1.5. Only got my diagnosis a year and a half ago as to the type of diabetes I have, been diagnosed as diabetic for over 24 years and been on insulin for 23 of them. Finally I feel like I can get control of this condition and that there are medical practioners that are willing to help, listen and guide me in the right direction to achieve that.

Thats good to hear - the right diagnosis is important. You'll get lots of useful hints and tips on here, and , no doubt, be able to offer some too

Welcome to the forum @poplolly

Goodness! 20+ years before getting an accurate diabetes classification must be something of a forum record 😱

Have you been offered Libre yet? (a continuous sensor that gives you 24-hour glucose readings and helps you see what‘s going on ‘between the dots’)

And have you asked about a diabetes management course like DAFNE, if you think that might be helpful?

Welcome @poplolly 🙂 Great that you’ve finally got the correct diagnosis. Presumably they originally thought you were Type 2? You’d have been quite young though. I’d be interested to hear more about your journey if you’re happy to share.
