Hi @Diabetes-Deadlock , and welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with neuropathy. Can you tell us more about how you are managing your T2, apart from the meds. What advice have you been given?

Whichever type of Diabetes we have we need to be aware of all carbs (potatoes, rice, pasta, fruIt, veg, sugar, ...) that we eat, as these are the pests that increase our BG. As I need to give myself insulin to match my carbs I am very aware of the amount that I eat at each meal. I was amazed at just how many I was eating at the start. If you are not already doing this it might help just to calculate the total carbs in your meals.

To avoid the spikes that I get after a meal I found it useful to set myself a target for each meal, and try to stick to that. We also changed to slower release carbs where possible, and other things such as fat in the meal, as this slowed the rise in BG. This would give your pancreas more time to deliver the insulin that your body would need.

Do you self- test your BG? Many Practices do not recommend this for people with T2, as there is limited funding for the test strips needed, but many in here find that testing helps as it gives them information in order to change their diet.

I knew nothing before my diagnosis but have learnt so much from others on here.
Just ask any questions you have and someone will come along with help.

Hi thanks for the welcome !

It was overwhelming at the start , sometimes still is in ways.

Reality is I never took in properly advice given and never asked questions !

Now wish I had , I am waiting to attend a Diabetes Group run by the IAPT service

Welcome to the forum Deadlock, from a fellow T2.
