Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 6 years ago. I've started to have lots of different issues with keeping things going well so I hope to get some information to help me get back on track. I'm particularly interested in finding out about the low carb diet. Keeping to it tho is another matter!! I'm hoping to find some like minded folk who I can keep in contact with and support each other thro these times.

Welcome to the forum, 17+ years for me.

Hello and welcome. I'm only 4 months on from my type 2 diagnosis. I've found lots of info, recipe ideas and support from the lovely folks on here. Definitely take a look in the recipes section. I've adopted a low carb eating plan, and I'm loving it (most of the time). Have lost 20 lbs in 15 weeks, too. Need to buy some new clothes now!!! 😛

Hi Kath, welcome, I was diagnosed just over two years ago and managed to keep control by diet alone- I'm now since November on Metformin and my BG levels were sky rocketing, but thanks to the lovely people on here I am managing slowly to get back in control(most days) I won't lie because I do struggle without carbs but due to someone recommending on here cauliflower rice I don't feel too resentful when tucking into my home made curry Lol. Good luck 🙂

Welcome KK ! If I was T2 low carb option would be my style too. Really good luck as I have two of my good friends off all there T2 meds. 🙂

Welcome, KrazyKath, you'll find loads of good stuff here as others have said. I was diagnosed in 2007, but it wasn't until I found this lovely place in 2013 that I began to be educated about it 😱 ...all the best to you!

Hi. I've been low carb since diagnosis. Found it very easy myself & don't miss carbs at all as there are plenty of alternatives. Lost 4 stone in total & now balance off just nicely. I don't even watch my fat intake & do not put on weight.

Hello everyone, Thank you so much for your responses. I'm feeling overwhelmed by trying to do the low carb thing, I'm going to look at some recipes and the like. Could you advise where I go to ask questions? I know this is just to say hello. thank you.

If it's a general question about diabetes, use the General Messageboard. For anything food related, use Food/carb queries + recipes forum.🙂
